To some people having to deal with oily skin is an absolute curse and they just wish that they could do something about their situation and to just have skin that is clear and healthy. The reason that the skin looks and feels oily is because the glands that are situated in the middle layer of the skin starts to become overactive and more oil is then produced.

This is a natural oil that is very much needed by the skin to help keep it moist, supple and also protected from the elements of weather and pollution. So it is not a bad thing provided that the amount of oils being secreted is what the facial tissues can actually manage effectively.

If you are currently suffering from oily skin then it is quite likely that you are in your teenage years and you are experiencing a range of hormonal activity within your body. But it is not just teenagers that are confined to having to deal with oily skin. It can also be seen in many women who are going through pregnancy or even menopause.

But despite these reasons and these groups of people there are still a huge range of people that are suffering from oily skin and they are not going through any physical changes so to speak. Oily skin can appear due to a number of possible reasons and hormonal changes are just one of those reasons. Other reasons would include that of a poor diet, exposure to excess heat or some kind of reaction to skin products that are currently being used.

Most of the oiliness that appears on the face is generally on the nose, chin and also the forehead. This is frequently referred to as the T-zone. If also have hair that is oily then you need to be making sure that this is tied back and not actually making any contact with your skin.
